G.G

GG entered this world in 1989 via Venezuelan and was born to be a POP artist. Gabriel Gimenez, better known as GG, has a relentless curiosity in exploring his imagination through art. Born in Venezuela, now residing in Miami, is one of the city’s most sought-after pop artists taking over Midtown, Wynwood and Downtown Miami with his infamous character, Fado, and other friends.

GG discovered his passion for the arts early in his childhood through doodles on notepads that later grew into an interest in painting and led him to his current unique, pop art style. The self-made artist took his inquisitive enthusiasm to the next level and built himself an international career and name for himself and has participated in multiple art fairs, gallery showings and events.

His work is based on a way of expression using characters, symbols and shapes, evolving into his many creations over the years. His inspirations spring from personal life experiences, feelings, emotions, goals and events that affect our environment in a negative or positive way - a personal life analysis expressed through his characters that yells at you from the canvas.

MANU

I have been drawing for as long as I can remember. My very first memory is of myself sitting on the floor, surrounded by sheets of paper and colored pencils, when my grandfather returned from his medical practice with even more pencils just for me. Since then, drawing has been my most natural language.

As a teenager, I told my parents of my decision to become a painter. They encouraged me, while also suggesting I study architecture. That path gave me a deep understanding of proportion, structure, and space — knowledge that now intertwines with the expressive freedom of my painting.

After years of exploring charcoal, oil, and acrylic within the intense art world of Matanzas, I turned to zazen practice. I received monastic ordination and discovered in sumi-e the essence of simplicity: one brush, one ink, one stroke, one sheet of paper. The universe in simplicity.

Ultimately, my work seeks to capture the universe in a single brushstroke — to represent that life is always flowing, never static. That is why my painting embraces loose, gestural, and sensual strokes: traces of movement, impermanence, and presence.

Artist Statement
“My intense passion and extreme love of life is the foundation of my creativity. Elation, contentment and ultimate satisfaction are the feelings I experience when reaching the completion of one of my pieces, thus granting me the drive and ambition to begin creating a new body of work. I like to define my artistic style as abstract in nature coupled with an expressionist quality.
My interpretation of a subject matter is
transformed into rich, vibrant bold colors
– timeless, awakening the soul, uplifting and radiant. My use of color evokes many moods; each piece I create is a moment in my life and therefore reflects that period of time – my art is the reflection of my eyes looking into my soul.”
